The Spirit Food Fund - 2020

The Spirit Food Bank Fund is an emergency response to the COVID-19 crisis by the Spirit Golf Association. In the greater Houston community, there are 1.1 million food insecure people who rely on Houston Food Bank and its partner network for food assistance.   Houston Food Bank is currently experiencing 130% - 150%  increase in demand over the typical number of people it serves. This unprecedented need means millions of dollars in additional funding are required to keep our friends and neighbors healthy and fed.
At Spirit Golf Association, we believe in supporting the amateur golf community, but also that we are kindred spirits with the good people who make up our local Houston community. That is why we have come together to support the Houston Food Bank with a goal of raising $2 million dollars in the coming weeks. These funds will be used for food recovery, sorting, and distribution as well as the creation of Emergency Food Boxes for families.
We are proud to launch this effort with a lead gift of $500,000 raised from the Spirit Golf Association, our founder Corbin Robertson and his family as well as The Cullen Foundation and the Cullen Trust for Higher Education.
This is just the beginning of the Spirit Golf Association’s renewed commitment to serving others through the game of golf and beyond. We will be here to help Houstonians through this crisis and afterwards to lift everyone up and move forward into brighter days.
